The Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC) Manager, SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has distributed a variety of self-help items to residents of Rukiga District.

The event, held at Kantare playground in Kashambya Sub-county, saw participation of people from diverse political affiliations, including members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

The items distributed to different organised groups included; hair dryers, sprayers, sewing machines, and bricklaying machines, among others. These tools are intended to empower residents by providing them with the means to start or enhance their small businesses, thereby boosting household incomes.

Addressing the large crowd gathered at the playground, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of utilizing these items effectively and scoffed at politicians trying to frustrate the ONC’s Wealth Creation Campaigns for selfish benefits.

“These items are meant to help you improve your livelihoods. Make good use of them to create better opportunities for yourselves and your families,” Hajjat Namyalo urged the crowd.

She conveyed that these resources were provided directly from President Yoweri Museveni, who also serves as the NRM National Chairman, the first lady Maama Janet Museveni and well wishers including Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe Tumuhairwe as part of his ongoing initiative to eliminate poverty across Uganda.

“This initiative is part of a broader campaign to foster self-sufficiency and economic stability across Uganda,” Namyalo said, emphasizing the government’s dedication to supporting all citizens, regardless of their political affiliation.

She further thanked Dr. Alinaitwe for her steadfast support towards different ONC wealth creation campaigns and called upon any other well wishers to join her as she heeds to President Museveni’s call to eliminate poverty among Ugandans.

Rukiga Leaders Highlight Infrastructure and Education Needs During Distribution Event

In a significant gathering, Rukiga District leaders used the opportunity to highlight pressing local issues and appeal for government support.

The District Resident Commissioner (RDC) for Rukiga Fred Kyamuzigita underscored the critical need for infrastructure development, lamenting the poor road network in the area.

He also highlighted some presidential pledges that have taken long to be fulfilled because of the bureaucracies in the different government agencies. He further stated that he believes with the trust president Museveni has in Hajjat Namyalo, she will be able to followup and have these pledges fulfilled.

“The promised road from Muhanga to Kanungu has been neglected and remains untarmacked despite assurances from the President himself,” he stated. He also noted the absence of an RDC’s office in Rukiga District, urging authorities to address this oversight.

The chairman Local Council 3 (LC3) for Kashambya Sub-county, emphasized the need for a Coffee processing plant to boost local agriculture and economic activities.

He expressed gratitude for the Government Skilling Hub in Kabale District but pointed out its limitations, as it only accommodates five children per sub-county. Given the large number of youths needing skills training, he requested the establishment of a technical institution in their area.

In his address, the chairman Local Council 5 (LC5) for Rukiga District, Mr. Richard Kakwerere, thanked SPA Hajjat Namyalo for recognizing their invitation and the National Chairman for his efforts in transforming the youth. He proudly noted that Rukiga’s performance in the recent national assessment was 20th in the country, indicating significant progress.

Mr. Kakwerere also expressed gratitude for the Kigezi Industrial Hub in Kamuganzi, Kabale, but reiterated the need for a technical school to further empower the youth. Additionally, he highlighted a critical challenge: the ban on the recruitment of government employees, which hampers local development efforts.

The lack of equipment to maintain and improve the road connecting Rukiga to Kanungu District was another significant concern. “Our district has been removed from those entitled to receive equipment, further exacerbating our infrastructure issues,” Kakwerere lamented.

The distribution is part of a broader countrywide campaign spearheaded by the ONC, aiming to rally Ugandans towards self-sufficiency and economic stability. The initiative highlights President Museveni’s commitment to supporting all citizens, regardless of their political stance, in the collective fight against poverty.
