The police Crime Intelligence and Flying Squad units have conducted raids on multiple gyms within the Kampala Metropolitan area, leading to the arrest of numerous suspects linked to a series of ‘flying kicks’ attacks. These attacks involve incapacitating victims with martial arts techniques before robbing them.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, disclosed that the majority of the 30 suspects arrested are juveniles aged between 12 and 18. These young individuals, inspired by martial arts movies, have been using private boxing gyms to hone their Kung Fu skills.

He also said that a few of the arrested suspects are ex-convicts.

Recently, there have been several ‘flying kick’ attacks captured on CCTV. One occurred along Wavamuno Road in Munyonyo, where an Ethiopian national who was walking was kicked before being robbed.

The most recent incident was captured along Ben Kiwanuka Street. The victim was kicked and robbed of Shs450k among other valuables. Three suspects were arrested, and on Monday, they were taken back to recreate the scene.
