Police in Amolatar have arrested Stella Akullo, a resident of Otuboi in Kalaki district, for allegedly stealing a newborn baby from Amolatar Health Centre IV.

The incident occurred on Friday and involved Winnie Aciro and Emmy Opio, residents of Angayiki village in Arwotcek sub-county, Amolatar district.

Akullo, who had been staying in the maternity ward under the pretence of waiting for a patient, disappeared when the baby went missing, prompting an immediate manhunt.

North Kyoga police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed that Akullo was apprehended at a landing site while attempting to leave the district.

She has been charged with baby theft and is being held at Amolatar Central Police Station under SD Ref: 02/24/05/2024.
