In a heartwarming display of solidarity and support, Mrs. Charlotte Muhoozi, the wife of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, joined forces with Her Royal Highness, the Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda, in a fundraiser aimed at raising awareness and resources for mental health initiatives.
The event, under the theme, “Shine a light; illuminating mental health,” was held at Kampala Serena Hotel, Uganda, bringing together influential figures from various sectors, including government officials, business leaders, and members of the royal family. With the backdrop of a serene garden setting, attendees gathered to lend their support to this important cause.
Prominent figures attend, included Ms Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa, wife of CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Prime Minister of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga, and former Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka.
The Nnabagereka Fund prioritizes mental health as a cornerstone of its mission, aligning with its dedication to the well-being of Ugandan communities.
Minister pleased with initiative
During the event, Margaret Muhanga, the Minister of State for Health in Charge of Primary Health Care, took the stage to highlight the importance of broadening the outreach on mental health. She advocated for a strategic blend of traditional and digital media platforms to enhance public understanding and support of mental health challenges.

On her part, Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda expressed profound gratitude to all supporters and attendees, including Charlotte Nankunda Kutesa, whose participation highlighted the collective effort required to address mental health issues in Uganda.
“The Naabageraka Fund this year will support interventions targeting to combat stigma surrounding mental health and ensure that individuals in need have access to mental health support and resources,” she said.

Susan Busulwa Lubega, Chairperson of the Naabagereka Fund, while speaking at the ball, said that the Naabagereka Fund is an endowment fund that provides stability to plan and execute long-term solutions to move communities towards self-reliance.
Adding a touch of excitement to the evening was a raffle draw, offering a brand-new Subaru TX as the grand prize. Tickets, priced at one million Ugandan shillings, served the dual purpose of fundraising and offering a chance to win a coveted vehicle.
