Uganda Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, have seized 93 vehicles during a coordinated operation in Kampala.
According to ASP Michael Kananura the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety spokesperson, the enforcement action targeted vehicles found in violation of road safety regulations and emphasized the importance of compliance with established regulations to ensure road safety.
These violations include the installation of illegal sirens, roof lights, modified lights, and breaches of one-way traffic rules.
Following the impoundment of vehicles, drivers were obligated to provide statements and are expected to appear in court in accordance with the Traffic and Road Safety Act of 1998.
Photographs circulated by Kananura’s office depicted the impounded vehicles, reinforcing the seriousness of the offenses. The police and sister security agencies issued a warning to drivers and vehicle owners to promptly rectify unauthorized modifications to avoid impoundment.
As enforcement efforts persist, Uganda Police Force, alongside sister security agencies, remain committed to upholding road safety standards and promoting compliance among motorists.
