A 30-year-old man in Nakapiripirit district, northern Uganda, is fighting for his life after being brutally beaten into a coma following an altercation over romantic advances.
Joseph Aleper, a resident of Acherer trading centre in Moruita sub-county, found himself in trouble on Thursday afternoon when he made advances towards a woman named Evelyne Napakol, also from the same area.
According to reports, Napakol rejected Aleper’s advances, sparking a heated argument that quickly turned physical.
During the altercation, a friend of Napakol, identified as Benna Akol, joined the fight and allegedly delivered severe blows to Aleper, leaving him unconscious and hospitalized in critical condition at Tokora Health Center IV.
Michael Longole, the regional police spokesperson for Mt. Moroto, confirmed the incident, stating that law enforcement authorities were promptly alerted and intervened in the matter.

A team of detectives visited the crime scene and apprehended both Napakol and Akol, who now face charges of attempted murder for their alleged involvement in the assault.
The incident highlights the serious consequences of interpersonal conflicts and the importance of resolving disputes through peaceful means.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served for the victim and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
