Rt Reverend Wilson Kisekka has officially assumed the role of the fourth Bishop of Luwero Diocese, succeeding Bishop Eridard Nsubuga, who retired the previous year.
The consecration and enthronement ceremony took place at St. Mark Cathedral, where Bishop Kisekka was accompanied by esteemed figures including Bishop Wilson Kitara of Kitgum Diocese and Bishop Simon Aisu of North Karamoja Diocese, alongside others. Archbishop Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu presided over the proceedings.
The ceremony commenced with Luwero Diocesan Secretary Eric Ssebigajju presenting the minutes of the Diocesan Synod, outlining the process of appointing the Nomination Committee and electing candidates for the Bishopric.
Subsequently, the Diocesan Chancellor Apollo Makubuya read the minutes of the nomination committee, which nominated two candidates for consideration by the House of Bishops.
Following the rigorous selection process, Bishop Kisekka took oaths of allegiance before Archbishop Dr. Kaziimba and was consecrated, with prayers offered for his ministry. Retired Bishop James Williams Ssebaggala returned the pastoral staff to Archbishop Kaziimba, symbolizing the transfer of authority.
Bishop Kisekka then adorned his bishop’s attire and returned to the congregation, where he was officially enthroned as Bishop of Luwero Diocese. Archbishop Kaziimba emphasized the importance of supporting the new Bishop and fostering reconciliation within the Diocese.

In his inaugural address, Bishop Kisekka pledged to prioritize God’s Ministry, advocate for environmental protection, and address contemporary issues, including homosexuality. He received congratulations from representatives of the Buganda Kingdom and pledges of collaboration for the Diocese’s development.
Members of parliament and government officials, including President Yoweri Museveni, represented by General Katumba Wamala, also extended their support and promised financial assistance for Bishop Kisekka’s ministry.
The ceremony signifies the conclusion of a period of interim leadership in Luwero Diocese following conflicts arising from the nullification of Rev. Canon Godfrey Kasana Ssemakula’s election as Bishop.
Although legal challenges persist, Bishop Kisekka’s consecration marks a new beginning for Luwero Diocese, ushering in a promising era under his leadership.
