ONC Manager ‘Hajjat Hadijah’ Urges Muslims to Flock Kololo as Pres. Museveni Inaugurates Salam Bank

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the manager of the Office of the NRM National Chairman (ONC), has urged Uganda’s Muslim community to participate enthusiastically in the upcoming Dua prayers set for March 27th at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.

Addressing the press at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, a Kampala suburb, Hajjat Hadijah stressed the significance of Muslim unity, regardless of political affiliations. She encouraged active involvement in an event where President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to inaugurate the Salam Bank.

“I urge all Muslims, irrespective of their political shades, to show and be part of this event that will also see President Yoweri Museveni launch the Salam Bank,” Hajjat Hadijah said.

Highlighting President Museveni’s key role in passing legislation on Islamic banking and his efforts in recovering Muslim properties, Hajjat Hadijah made mention of the significance of expressing gratitude towards the president, who is also NRM National Chairman.

“We will use the opportunity to thank the president for signing the law on Islamic banking in addition to showing gratitude for the efforts he has made to recover Muslim properties,” she said

The ONC-organized Dua prayers, are the first of the kind of that magnitude, marking a historic occasion uniting Muslims from all corners of Uganda.

Salam Bank will be unveiled the bank during the event. It offers financial services adhering to Islamic principles, notably devoid of riba (interest).

Addressing concerns raised by Muslim leaders regarding riba, particularly in accessing government funds through the Parish Development Model (PDM), Hajjat highlighted the significance of Salam Bank in providing credit support compatible with Islamic finance principles.

She also promised a packaged to Muslims attending the event.

“InshaAllah, on the day, guests will go back home with packages to help aid their fasting period,” she added, emphasizing that the event provides an opportunity for Muslims to engage with the president on poverty alleviation initiatives.
