The Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB has apprehended Lilian Ayebazibwe, the headteacher of Bubaale Primary School in Bushenyi, and handed her over to the police for issuing 114 of her former candidates with false results.

Ayebazibwe had appeared for a hearing at UNEB in Kampala due to suspected malpractice, resulting in the withholding of exam results for 114 candidates.

Information obtained from UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule revealed that during the hearing, it was discovered that the school administrators provided fake results to candidates on testimonials forms.

Kalule mentioned that UNEB learned that all 114 affected candidates used these testimonials with inaccurate results to enrol in senior one.

“We are still gathering more information on this case,” Kalule stated in a telephone interview.

Despite releasing PLE results on January 25, UNEB did not disclose the number of suspected malpractice cases or the involved schools.

At the time, UNEB executive director Dan Odongo defended the decision, citing potential harm to innocent schools from premature announcements.
