Miss Lizzie Velasquez possesses a unique medical condition that hinders her ability to gain weight, despite consuming a staggering number of 60 small meals per day.

As a communications student, Miss Velasquez consumes a daily intake of calories ranging from 5,000 to 8,000, yet her weight never exceeds 4st 3lbs.

Standing at a height of 5ft 2 ins, she wears clothing in the size triple zero. Throughout the day, Miss Velasquez sustains her energy levels by consuming a variety of food items including crisps, sweets, chocolate, pizza, chicken, cake, doughnuts, ice cream, noodles, and Pop-Tarts.

She diligently monitors her weight and experiences excitement even if she manages to gain a single pound.

Born four weeks prematurely, Miss Velasquez weighed only 2lb 10oz and doctors found that there was minimal amniotic fluid protecting her in the womb.

Although doctors speculated that Miss Velasquez may have the genetic disorder De Barsy syndrome, they eventually ruled it out as she did not have any learning difficulties. Despite being taken to see genetic experts, she remained undiagnosed.

Miss Velasquez’s case has fascinated doctors worldwide, and she is part of a genetic study conducted by Professor Abhimanyu Garg, MD, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

The professor believes that Lizzie may have a form of Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome (NPS), which causes fast and early ageing, fat loss from the face and body, and tissue degeneration.

However, each case of NPS differs, and the medical community has yet to document older people with NPS.

Miss Velasquez has helped to write a book about her experiences, which will be released in September. Despite her condition, she is fortunate to have healthy teeth, organs, and bones. Doctors will continue to study her case and learn from her.
