How Thugs Used Bodabodas To Trail, Rob Kisoro Businessman of $86000 In Kampala

Uganda Police in Kampala Metropolitan are hunting for two men ridding a boda boda who trailed and robbed a Kisoro Businessman of over $8,6000 around UGX300 Million.

The robbery incident took place at Pride Theatre junction Namirembe Road where the victim only identified as Geoffrey was attacked by unknown assailants armed with pangas and went away with all the money on him.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigire says, Geoffrey a resident of Kawempe a Kampala suburb received $86.000 from a one Muhirwe Ronald with an intention of exchanging it in Kikuubo for further business transactions.

Police further noted that Muhiirwe arrived in Kampala via gateway bus at about 8am and alleged to have been trailed him from Kisoro District.

Immediately after Ronald handed over the money to Geoffrey, Unknown people travelling on a bodaboda attacked him with pangas and went away with the money.

Owoyesigire added that police using CCTV cameras managed to identify the suspects with the nick name of Pallaso and his accomplish only identified as Mbaziira both said to residents of Kisingiri village on Salaama Road in Makindye Division in Kampala.

Police noted that this has been a routine for traders to transport dollars from kisoro for purchase of merchandise warning traders to modern money transfer services.

This wave of crime had previously been nipped in the bud by Crime Intelligence and several suspects arrested but the latest incidents show resumption of the same.

In many of these incidents, it is the work of an inside job where workers of these Chinese nationals tips their colleagues who follow them on boda bodas and rob them.

In other cases, the boda bodas used to transport these huge sums of money are part of the deal.
