Today morning, the speaker of parliament Annette Anita Among Among announced the sad news of the passing on of Dokolo Women Representative Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal.

She died from an Indian hospital where she was battling cancer for the past few weeks.

Cecilia Ogwal was a strong voice in the parliament of Uganda having served in the house for quite a number of years and was seen as a fountain of experience in matters regarding the August house where she has served since 1996, sitting on several parliamentary committees.

At the time of her demise, Ogwal was serving on parliament’s Budget Committee. She was also a member on the committee of Physical Infrastructure in parliament as well as a member of the Uganda Management Institute and Institute of Corporate governance, she belonged to the Forum for Democratic Change which she joined after losing the Lira Municipality seat to Jimmy Akena in 2006.

In this article, we bring her last two messages to Ugandans which she posted three weeks ago. Cecilia Ogwal last posted on Facebook on the 25th of December 2023 at 8:32am in the morning when she was wishing Ugandans and her supporters a Merry Christmas.

“Love, Peace & Joy For You & Your Family. Merry Christmas!”-she posted.

Ever since then the Lioness of Dokolo never posted again until her candle burned out and her bold voice went silent today.
