On Monday, November 27, 2023, the Parliament Appointments Committee thoroughly vetted Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Musoke, affirming her new role as a Member of the Judicial Service Commission.
Chaired by Speaker Anita Among, the committee engaged with various members, including Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, during the vetting process.
Speaker Among assured, “The committee’s findings will be promptly submitted to the Appointing Authority for the necessary steps to follow.”
The Judicial Service Commission, established as a Constitutional body under Article 146 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, is entrusted with the recruitment and oversight of judicial officers.
Comprised of nine members, the Commission holds significant authority to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of Uganda’s justice administration. These Commissioners are meticulously selected based on their impeccable integrity and character, playing a pivotal role in shaping the country’s judicial landscape.
Justice Musoke’s successful vetting marks a significant step towards contributing to the Commission’s objectives of maintaining a robust and accountable judicial system within Uganda.
