Residents of Wankanya ward in Kikyusa Town Council, Luwero district, were rattled by a grim discovery on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, as authorities uncovered a decomposed human head, fueling suspicions of a potential murder case. The remains, suspected to be that of a child, were accompanied by scattered clothes found at the scene.
Authorities reported that detectives scouring the area for evidence recovered an earring alongside various clothing items, including a white and black overall, yellow trousers, a red sweater, a red dress, and a left-foot sandal. The distressing find took place in the cassava garden of Kikyusa Modern Primary School, where a teacher, Lydia Nansubuga, alerted the village chairperson, Sam Nkwanga, upon the discovery.
Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the recovery and mentioned that the unidentified head had been transferred to Mulago City mortuary for a postmortem examination. Despite ongoing investigations, the deceased’s identity remained elusive, as no one had come forward to claim the remains by Thursday.
Expressing concern over the unfamiliar face, most residents, upon observing the head, voiced that the individual did not appear recognizable within the local community. Police authorities have urged anyone possessing information that could lead to identifying the deceased or their family to come forward promptly.
