In a shocking turn of events, the eldest son of the late Henry Katanga, Arthur Katanga has taken the unprecedented step of releasing graphic images depicting the harrowing aftermath of the traumatic incident involving his mother, Molly Katanga and father.

Arthur shared the horrifying pictures in an affidavit filed in the High Court in Kampala seeking to dispel what he called lies, concoctions and fabrications levelled against her family by city lawyer Barnabas Taremwa who alleges that on the morning of November 2, Molly Katanga unaided booked herself into IHK following death of her husband by shooting which had occurred a few hours at their home at Mbuya Hill after a domestic dispute.

Mr Taremwa who claims to be a close relative of the Katangas filed a Court petition together with the deceased’s uncle Brig. Freddie Karara demanding for an inquest to ascertain how and who killed Katanga.

In the application, Taremwa and Brig. Karara makes a heap of allegations against Molly and her daughters Tricia and Martha depicting them as responsible for the death of Mr Katanga.

Tricia told Police on the fateful day that she had personally heard her mother and father holed up in a misunderstanding before a loud bang of a gunshot. Upon rushing to the bedroom she found her father dead and her mother unconscious.

Molly was rushed to IHK hospital where she remains to date.

The Director of Public Prosecution Her Worship Jane Frances Abado on Tuesday charged Molly with the murder of her husband, along with her two daughters, family doctor Charles Otai and Shamba Boy George Amanyire.

In debunking Taremwa’s narrative, Arthur Katanga decried the Police’s bias alleging that the family was denied a postmortem report as requested on grounds it was highly protected and needed by investigators only to be leaked to Taremwa who would broadcast it on social media.

“On 2nd November 2023, the police pathologist carried out a postmortem on the body of our father and assured our family that we were entitled to a copy of the postmortem.

After repeated requests for a copy of the postmortem report, we were informed by the pathologist that we could not get a copy of the report as it was still the subject of police investigations and was therefore top secret and only in the possession of the CID officers investigating the case. That in the instant Application the applicants not only state the cause of death, and the position of the bullet but also specifically list the doctors who carried out the postmortem clearly showing that Mr Barnabas Taremwa procured a copy of my father’s post-mortem report from certain criminal elements in the police force,” Arthur Katanga said.

Amputated finger

On Molly’s health, Arthur adds, “On 16th November 2023, we requested and obtained from IHK hospital reports of my mother’s condition when she went to the hospital on 2nd November 2023. We have obtained my mother’s x-rays and photographs from IHK hospital. The photos show the state that her head was in when she was taken to the hospital completely smashed up. They show the state of her head after the stitches were put on. They show the x-rays of her hands. They show the transition of her finger and how they tried to save it by holding it with metals and they finally show its amputation.”

Injured arm

The photos, which showcase severe head injuries and the grim reality of an amputated finger, have thrust the family back into the public eye, sparking widespread concern and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding Molly’s well-being following DPP’s directive that she must appear in Court on December 4, two weeks from today to answer murder charges of her husband.

How she sustained the deep cuts all over her body, only Molly Katanga can tell what happened.
