Jubilee Health Insurance has unveiled “Maisha Fiti,” an innovative wellness program tailored for the Ugandan market, symbolizing a significant stride in the company’s commitment to fostering the physical and mental well-being of its clientele.
The Maisha Fiti initiative is designed to empower customers by placing them at the forefront of their preventive and curative healthcare journey. Beyond individual empowerment, the program aims to cultivate a supportive community where users can engage with peers and healthcare experts, delving into a spectrum of topics including nutrition, lifestyle management, maternal health, mental well-being, and more.
Recent years have witnessed a troubling surge in diseases directly linked to lifestyle choices. According to the World Health Organization, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) claim approximately 41 million lives globally each year. Uganda, grappling with similar health challenges, contends with an estimated 39 percent of deaths attributed to NCDs.
The adverse impact of preventable lifestyle-related illnesses extends beyond individual health, significantly straining the country’s healthcare infrastructure. The Maisha Fiti Program aims to counteract this trend through targeted health education and initiatives aimed at fostering healthier living practices.
During the program’s launch, Jubilee Health Insurance CEO Dan Musiime highlighted the urgency of addressing the escalating prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases.
“Lifestyle-related illnesses not only compromise an individual’s quality of life but also exert a substantial burden on families and national resources. The alarming rise in such diseases necessitates an immediate prioritization of our health. Maisha Fiti seeks to empower our customers to make informed decisions regarding their diet and overall well-being,” Musiime emphasized.
In tandem with Maisha Fiti, Jubilee Health Insurance has also introduced the “Do Anything For The Steps” campaign, designed to motivate individuals to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives. This campaign encourages activities like walking, running, or cycling, emphasizing their role in boosting energy levels and overall vitality, thereby enhancing the quality of life.
To engage in this campaign, individuals are invited to purchase JCare Medical Cover via the company’s website. Upon enrollment, participants will receive a complimentary smartwatch, enabling them to join the “Do Anything For The Steps” initiative.
This challenge empowers customers to set personalized targets for physical activities within specific timeframes. Participants achieving their set targets stand to benefit from discounts of up to 20 percent or cashback on their health premiums.
Caroline Ndungu, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Jubilee Insurance Group, highlighted the importance of incentivizing physical activity in combatting the rising tide of lifestyle-related illnesses.
“In addressing the burgeoning health crisis, it’s increasingly evident that collective action by individuals and companies is imperative. Our company remains dedicated to empowering individuals to access both preventive and curative care. This campaign aims to inspire individuals to embrace physical activities that not only enhance their well-being but also contribute to building healthier and happier communities,” Ndungu emphasized.
The launch of “Maisha Fiti” and the “Do Anything For The Steps” campaign underscores Jubilee Health Insurance’s commitment to proactively championing holistic health approaches within Uganda, striving for a healthier populace and a brighter future.
