One person has been confirmed dead and over 15 survived with deadly injuries after a fatal accident that occurred last night in Kakumiro district.
The Standard News Uganda learnt that the accident involving a canter lorry, bearing registration number UBA 598D took place at around 7 pm at Kakindo SDA Church in Kakumiro District, killing one on the spot and causing life-threatening injuries to 15 others.
According to eyewitnesses, the lorry had over 30 individuals returning from Igayaza, where they had attended a burial in Kabwooya, Kikuube District. The deceased, identified as Ruharaza, lost their life on the spot during the unfortunate accident.
Eyewitnesses at the scene further reported that the cause of the accident was attributed to the driver losing control on the slope of Kakindo SDA Church. The canter tipper’s overturning led to the tragic outcome.
Promptly responding to the incident, the police arrived at the scene to rescue and initiate investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident.
The injured victims were promptly admitted to Kakindo HCIV for urgent medical attention and treatment.
