The National Unity Platform (NUP) on Thursday finally opened its new head offices in Makerere; a much smaller facility compared to what the party announced mid-last year.
The new head offices located in Makerere Kavule along Bombo road in Kawempe division were unveiled by the party president Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), who was flanked by the top party leadership and scores of invited guests.
Davidson Rubongoya, the NUP Secretary-General in his speech, addressed the debate that has been raging about the new offices being smaller than what was announced in July 2022.

But in the end, they settled for a smaller three-storied structure.
Rubongonya explained that they had to abandon their initial plan because they were constrained by money.
“The initial plan which we unveiled on that day required over 4 billion shillings which is a lot of money that we did not have,” said Rubongoya.
The new offices launched today, according to SG, cost them less than 10% of the amount they would have spent on the original plan.
But on the flip side, Rubongoya bragged about how they managed to expand the space by acquiring most of the plots and buildings surrounding them.
The NUP was supposed to have the new office launched on Wednesday but postponed after failing to secure clearance from security because President Yoweri Museveni was expected in the same area.
The office launch was still ongoing by publication of this report.
