In a ground-breaking move anticipated to revolutionize Uganda’s economic future, the Office of the President is set to officially inaugurate the Uganda Europe Convention (UEC) on November 9, 2023. This landmark event aims to assemble a robust consortium of stakeholders from diverse sectors to catalyze the inception of the UEC.

Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, underscores that the UEC is a critical component of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s sweeping initiative for wealth and job creation across pivotal sectors including commercial agriculture, factories, services, and information communication & technology.

The UEC is envisioned as a dynamic platform to bolster trade and investment between Uganda and Europe. It’s a robust strategy to diversify the economy, foster strategic partnerships, and carve new employment opportunities, while simultaneously opening up new labour markets and turbocharging the tourism sector.

Ambassador Walusimbi asserts, “The UEC will be a magnet for global industrialists to set up production facilities in Uganda, thereby amplifying the value of our exports to Europe, with a special emphasis on the agricultural sector.”

Walusimbi envisions the UEC as a game-changer in Uganda’s quest to emerge as a prominent global hub for tourism, investment, and innovation. He underscores the strategic importance of the Ugandan diaspora community, asserting, “Empowering them with cutting-edge business and entrepreneurial skills will be a catalyst for job creation at home.”

The UEC is also poised to stimulate the Ugandan Diaspora community’s engagement in value addition to Ugandan raw materials. The government, through the Office of the President/Diaspora Affairs, is unequivocally committed to championing this transformative effort.

Paul Juuko Kingsley, the visionary founder of the UEC, articulates the convention’s prime objective of establishing a vibrant connection between Ugandans in Europe and those at home.

The convention, an innovative social network for Ugandans across continents, is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, setting the stage for a brighter future for all Ugandans.
