A heart-wrenching incident swept through Amuria district after a two-year-old boy, Francis Opolot, tragically lost his life due to an illegal surgery performed at a drug shop. The incident has prompted a widespread search for the prime suspect, Michael Oronon, and any potential accomplices involved in the ill-fated procedure.
According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the East Kyoga territorial police have launched an active pursuit of Oronon and others following the devastating incident, which occurred at Oronon’s drug shop situated in Aron trading center, Acomai village, on October 24, 2023.
The suspect, Michael Oronon, attempted to address a severe health concern related to the victim’s tongue, believing that a critical surgical intervention was necessary. However, the unauthorized surgery resulted in uncontrollable bleeding and vomiting, ultimately leading to the child’s tragic and untimely death.
Upon inspection of the young victim, evidence of a cut was found under the tongue, but no external injuries were observed on the body. In the aftermath of the incident, the child’s body was promptly transferred to Amuria General Hospital for a thorough postmortem examination.
Local authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate the suspect responsible for the unauthorized and fatal medical procedure. The incident has left the community deeply saddened and alarmed, emphasizing the critical importance of proper medical care and the dangers of unauthorized surgeries conducted in unregulated settings.
