Stanbic Bank, Entebbe Golf Open Sign UGX100 Million Sponsorship Deal

Kampala:  Stanbic Bank has announced a three-year sponsorship package worth UGX 100 million for the Entebbe Golf Open, which is making a comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’ve learnt that the lender will earn brand naming rights for the championship, known as the Stanbic Entebbe Open. The championship promises an exciting return, with major prizes up for grabs. Notably, the first player to achieve an ace will win a brand-new Toyota Fortuner.

The Entebbe Open will take place between November 1st and 4th. It will feature both professional and amateur players as well as a special six-hole challenge for media practitioners.

While addressing the press on October 24, 2023, Arthur Kiwanuka, the Head of Affluent Banking, said his organization is partnering with Entebbe Club to bring back the highly regarded Entebbe Open tournament. The tournament, which had been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is one of the most well-liked events in the country.
“We are honoured to be partnering with Entebbe Club to return the Entebbe Open, one of the most popular tournaments in the country which was forced into a hiatus by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Kiwanuka added that partnering with Entebbe Golf Club is aligned to the lender’s purpose of driving Uganda’s growth, through supporting sport, promoting talent, and building towards Uganda’s socio-economic development.

Sserwano Walusimbi, the Entebbe Club Captain, expressed his enthusiasm for the return of the Entebbe Open to its full glory after the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He highlighted the significance of having the prestigious Stanbic Bank brand associated with the championship, emphasizing the importance and respect it brings to the event.
“The last time we had an Entebbe Open was in 2019 and after covid-19 we haven’t had Entebbe Open back to its full glory. We are excited to welcome the prestigious Stanbic Bank brand onboard as it shows the importance and respect, we have as a Championship.”

Isaac Ajiji, the Trade Marketing Manager at Stanbic Bank said the brand sponsorships are specifically invested in areas that the lender’s customers love and care about.
“Our affluent customers love golf and as their bank, we are pleased to lend our hand in returning one of the most popular golf championships in the country,” he said.
