President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu – OBR cultural leader King Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema Ngoma to collaborate with the government to eradicate the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and ensure stability in the region.
Museveni emphasized the importance of community support for the security forces, urging the residents to remain vigilant and actively identify, isolate, and eliminate any individuals who pose a threat to their communities.
In his speech read by Vice President Maj (Rtd) Jessica Alupo at the 57th coronation anniversary of the Rwenzururu cultural leader, held at Kilembe Golf Course in Kasese town on Thursday, President Museveni emphasized the significance of regional stability for development.
The leader emphasized the importance of a strong relationship with the government in addressing poverty, crime, and diseases.
The president emphasized the NRM government’s recognition of the Bakonzo community’s right to express their cultural traditions. He expressed personal satisfaction with Mumbere’s return to his kingdom.
He said the restoration of the kingdoms in Uganda in 1993 was one of the greatest achievements of the current government because they are older than the history of Uganda and hence they teach a sense of belonging.
The State Minister for Gender and Culture, Peace Mutuuzo, emphasized the importance of unity and development during her address to the cultural leader.
In his address, Mumbere stressed the significance of adopting government initiatives like the Parish Development Model-PDM to enhance their quality of life and address poverty.
During his address, he presented the Kingdom’s comprehensive plans for the next seven years, emphasizing five key pillars: reconciliation, unity in diversity, social-economic transformation, peacebuilding, and mindset change.
