PICTORIAL: Diaspora Community In London Commemorates Uganda’s 61st Independence Anniversary

The Ugandan community, Embassy officials &  friends of Uganda celebrated the 61st anniversary of Uganda at the High Commission in London.

The momentous occasion showcased Uganda’s rich history, culture, spirit of patriotism, diversity, and resilience, which have for the last six decades seen the Pearl of Africa overcome hurdles, and evolve, hence the prevailing peace, steady progress & prosperity.

Uganda High Commissioner, H.E. Nimisha Madhvani, addressed the gathering, commending them for being patriotic, emphasising that the Diaspora is a vital component toward the development of Uganda. She urged Ugandans to work hand in hand, invest back home, and forge innovative ways of sustaining a united & progressive nation.

Development partners were accorded a warm reception and acknowledged the peace-loving nature of Ugandans. They encouraged Ugandans to remain united and focus on doing & growing businesses, in a bid to contribute to economic development.

Keynote speeches also focused on vast investment & business opportunities in Uganda, especially in sectors of tourism, oil & gas, mining, energy, and agriculture, among others.

Ultimately, the Uganda Independence Day in London was a special moment of reflection on the meaningful collaborations between Uganda and the UK.
