If you analyse why politicians exist, sometimes it is not for the common man, but for their own interests.

Ask yourself: has my leader ever organised a workshop that can economically improve my social and economic being? Most probably the answer will be no, because most of them would want you to remain poor. They will tell you not to enrol for Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Youth livelihood program, to mention but a few but they will organise you to burn tyres in the road. This is because their agenda is to trample on you on their journey to stardom.

During even parliamentary recess, they will just come and buy for you beer at the funeral and after walk out and wait to mobilise you into Street protest forgetting that as people of one nation, we have a duty to strategize and operationalize the country’s Vision 2040 which include among others to increase our industrial and manufacturing sector which of course occupies an integral part of the social and economic development plan of “Vision 2040”.

It should be remembered that for us to be able to achieve this, the government, private sector, civil society, and politicians have to get involved each with a crucial role to play.

For this case in point, our leaders from different shades of life including religious leaders should be encouraging people to not only participate but also attend the 29th Uganda International Trade Fair which is under the theme: Driving manufacturers and trade efficiency through digital transformation.

We should all appreciate that the conventional method of doing business where you sit in your shop and wait for buyers is now absolute.

We have to embrace ICT and digitalisation. Our people need to attend workshops, trade fairs and exhibitions among others in order to acquire more skills on how to manage a modern competitive business in the modern era.

Since over 1000 local and international exhibitors from 120 countries are in the week-long exhibition, our youths should come to the show and benchmark and save the transport cost of going abroad for the same.

This is also an opportunity for our unemployed youth to go and meet their future prospective employers and ask questions.

The same way our youths attended the Eddie Kenzo show at Kololo, the music battle between Sheeba and Cindy, and the same way they plan to attend the upcoming music battle between Chamillion and Bebe Cool is the same way our parents and leaders should mobilise our youths to spend only 10,000/ to attain knowledge and network with different business players.

This place is also a good platform to come and appreciate Uganda’s industrial development journey in order to promote Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU).

The event which is expected to be officiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museven, started on October 3 and will end on 10,2023 at the UMA Lugogo Show grounds.

In conclusion, the Office of the National Chairman of NRM headed by General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni but managed by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, with the duty to promote wealth creation, thank the organisers for organising Bazukkulu this trade fair because we believe that it is now the epicentre of knowledge and ideas to create more wealth for our country and reduce unemployment.

The writer is the Head of Research, Office of the National Chairman – Kyambogo.
