Police in Lyantonde District conducted a raid on a shop dealing in electronic appliances and seized a variety of items worth millions of shillings.

The shop, located on Kooki Road in Lyantonde Town Council, was found to have items, including CCTV cameras, computer monitors, printers, speakers, generators, microphones, and more, which were suspected to have been stolen from the districts of Lyantonde and Kiruhura.

The operation was initiated following numerous reports from individuals who had lost their property to thieves. In Kiruhura, cases of missing hair salon equipment and a missing public address system had been reported. The detectives managed to arrest a suspect who led them to the shop where stolen items were being sold. Both suspects, the shop owner and the thief, are in police custody.

It is believed that the shop owner had been knowingly purchasing stolen items and had connections with a network of thieves he referred to as his “agents.” The stolen items were suspected to have been taken from various locations, including Kyazanga, Mbirizi, and Sanga.
