Examination centers for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE or O’Level) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE or A’Level) are racing against the clock to submit coursework results for subjects where it is a requirement, as the national exams are fast approaching.
The deadline for coursework result submissions is set for this Saturday, September 30th. Final-year students will commence the 2023 national exams on October 16th, beginning with the geography paper. Traditionally, candidates receive their briefing on the Friday before the exams, on October 13th.
In a final reminder to school heads, Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), emphasized that coursework scores must be submitted electronically via the UNEB portal.
The subjects that necessitate coursework submission include technical drawing, art and design, French, woodwork, metalwork, and building practice.
Musamba cautioned that schools submitting coursework scores after the deadline will incur a surcharge of shs 50,000 per candidate. UNEB has made it clear that it will not accept any coursework scores beyond October 15th.
Musamba stated, “We wish to clarify that any candidate without coursework scores in the subjects or papers where it is a requirement shall not be graded.” In cases where a candidate has transferred to another school, they must ensure that all coursework assessment scores are made available at their new center, which should then submit the scores to UNEB.
Schools that have not yet collected their examination stationery, including answer booklets, graph papers, art papers, and timetables, have been urged to do so “with immediate effect.” It is also mandated that each candidate is provided with a copy of the examination timetable, and a copy should be displayed on the school noticeboards.
