A 23-year-old woman has been arrested by the police on suspicion of poisoning and killing Godwin Kansiime, the director of Victoria Secondary School in Nansana, Wakiso District. The alleged murder took place on September 2, following a meeting between the suspect and the victim at a bar.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, the suspect is accused of giving poisoned drinks to Kansiime, which eventually led to his death. Kansiime’s body was found in a bush in Nansomba Village, Masulita Sub-county, Wakiso District, and a post-mortem report confirmed that he died of poisoning.
Detectives were able to trace Kansiime’s movements from the bar to Nansana Inn Guest House, where he was accompanied by the suspect. CCTV footage showed the two leaving the bar together at 6:15 am.
Further investigation revealed that Kansiime’s wife had sent him money via mobile money, which was transferred to a suspicious number after his death. This information led to the arrest of the primary suspect on Salaama Road.
The suspect reportedly confessed to dropping a tablet into one of the drinks that Kansiime consumed at the bar, with the intention of making him high. She claimed she did not anticipate it would have fatal consequences.
The police have also arrested two other individuals suspected of conspiring with the primary suspect in the alleged poisoning.
