The GOP-controlled House Oversight Committee in the United States is preparing to hold a public hearing on President Joe Biden’s family’s business dealings on September 28. This marks the first public hearing since the House launched its impeachment inquiry.
The committee plans to have three credible witnesses, including financial law experts and foreign agent registration specialists, to discuss the alleged evidence that Republicans claim to have gathered regarding the Biden family’s business dealings.
Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, stated that they aim to explain the purpose and nature of an impeachment inquiry during the hearing. Additionally, the Republicans intend to subpoena bank records for Hunter Biden and James Biden, the president’s son and brother, in the coming week.
Comer mentioned that they have not yet subpoenaed the president’s records because investigators have not found evidence indicating that President Biden received any of the scrutinized funds. He emphasized their intention to follow the money trail from various sources to the Biden family members but clarified that President Biden has not been among the beneficiaries.
The White House has consistently maintained that President Biden did nothing wrong and that there is no evidence of wrongdoing in his relationship with Hunter Biden’s business dealings following an investigation.
The hearing is expected to shed more light on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Biden family’s business interests and their potential implications for the president.
