The suspects were detained, fingerprinted, and fined before being released.

In addition to the DUI arrests, during the week of September 10 to 16, 2023, a total of 99 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit along the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway by CCTV cameras. Each of them was fined 200,000 Ugandan shillings.

Furthermore, authorities impounded 991 motorcycles for various offenses, including 502 riders lacking driving licenses, 334 without crash helmets, 298 lacking reflectors, and 127 for other violations.

The Fika Salama Extra Awareness team continues its efforts to promote road safety messages throughout the country, using various channels such as media outlets, social media platforms, and in-person interactions with communities.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts by Ugandan law enforcement agencies to enforce road safety regulations and curb dangerous driving behaviors on the nation’s roads.
