Kampala: Uganda Police have arrested their own officer for allegedly shooting and killing his wife during a domestic dispute.

We’ve learnt that the incident occurred at the Jinja Road police barracks around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) David Ogwang, who was assigned to the Counter Terrorism police, allegedly shot his wife, Corporal Atino Jennifer, attached to the Very Important Person Protection Unit (VIPPU) of the police at parliament.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the shooting occurred due to a misunderstanding between the couple.

The police officer has been taken into custody while authorities investigate the incident. Further details regarding the case are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
