Kabale: Armed Private Security Guard On The Run After Stealing Millions From Pepsi Depot

A private security guard attached to Centurion Security Ltd is on the run after allegedly stealing Shs 12.57 million from his duty station.

Joshua Akankwasa was guarding Protos Distributors Limited, in Kabale town, western Uganda.

Christopher Mukama, manager of Protos says that when he reported working on Wednesday at around 7:45 am, he saw the behind door of the depot open and Akankwasa missing.

Mukama says that he was shocked when he entered and found the gun abandoned on the table and the money missing from the safe. Mukama also says that he also found the computer missing.

Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for Kigezi region says that they recovered a gun reg.no. Ug-PSO-811448608634.

He adds that preliminary investigations indicate that the Akankwasa could have connived with another gang to help him rob the depot.

The case is registered at Kabale central police station under file number SD26/16/08/2023. In July 2022, a security guard attached to Accurate Security Company Limited put an Indian businessman at gunpoint in Makanga village, Central Division in, Kabale municipality and stole Shs 8 million from him.
