The annual UK-Uganda   UK-Uganda Investment and Trade Summit (UCUK), which will attract hundreds of investors from Uganda and other countries, is back this year, bigger and better!

Preparations are already in high gear for the 13th edition of the UK-Uganda Investment and Trade Summit in UCUK, which will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at The Five Star Blue Orchid Hotels, The Skyline London, United Kingdom.

We have since established that Uganda will be represented by officials from various government agencies, among them the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Export Promotions Board.

However, the keynote speakers at this year’s summit will include Mr. John Musinguzi Rujoki, the Commissioner General Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Hon. Evelyn Anite, the State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Michael Mugabi, the Executive Director, Housing Finance Bank, among others.

During the said Summit, a number of high-profile speakers will join investors, business captains, and leaders as they connect, invest, drive growth, and explore opportunities in Uganda and East Africa’s key and priority sectors: oil, gas, minerals, agriculture (agri-tech), infrastructure, manufacturing, renewable energy, tourism, information and communications technology (ICT), banking and financial services, and more.

Sources close to the organizing committee have revealed to this website that this year, the Trade Summit will focus on key objectives:

Providing a platform as a buyer-seller trade summit to enhance offtake from the Ugandan agricultural industry to markets in the UK, Europe, and the Commonwealth;

Market opportunities for investment in key priority sectors, including Oil, gas, and minerals; Agriculture (Agri-tech); infrastructure; manufacturing; Renewable energy; tourism; ICT; and Banking and Financial Services.

With 300+ delegates anticipated to attend, the UK-Uganda Trade Summit is the most significant annual trade and investment summit for an East African market in the UK.

This is because it is ideal for discussing trade development and connecting businesses to new markets.

Besides the scheduled activities however, this website has learnt that unlike the past conventions, this time round the UCUK will feature an exceptional side session solely dedicated to coffee, during which UK and European importers and roasters will meet Ugandan exporters, with the aim to initiate introductions, discuss all coffee related matters, and generate or increase business between parties.

This interaction is vital for Uganda since the country is one of the leading producers of coffee in East Africa.

It should be noted that the UCUK Summit is organised with the support of Lord Popat (UK Trade Envoy to Uganda), the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Department for Business & Trade (DBT) (Kampala), and many others.
