A tragic road accident between a taxi and a Fuso truck has resulted in the confirmed death of at least 16 people. The incident took place at Muhorro town council, Kagadi District, along the Kagadi-Kyenjojo-Fort Portal Highway on Sunday at around 8 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the Fuso truck, which was carrying silverfish, collided head-on with the taxi that was heading to Kagadi from Fort Portal. The driver of the Fuso truck reportedly lost control and failed to brake, resulting in the collision.
Henry Acaali, the taxi driver, was among the 16 people who lost their lives in the accident.
Most of the victims were residents of Kagadi town council who were returning from a burial in Fort Portal. Five injured persons were rushed to Muhorro Community Health Centre for medical attention.
The Police are still investigating the incident and working to identify the deceased.
